Scrip - New ways to pay!

More ways families can pay for gift cards

We’re excited to announce that in mid to late August, in addition to linking a bank account (PrestoPay™), families that have access to online payments can choose to pay for gift cards with credit cards.

Important details about this new payment option:

  • Credit card types: Visa and MasterCard will be accepted.

  • Rebates: The rebate is not impacted—families, and the school, still earn the same amount.

  • Purchases: A 2.6% fee is added to the Scrip order total each time you pay with a credit card. Credit card payments will be processed immediately.

We will make an announcement when this option becomes available. This will ONLY be an option for online orders! Do you need help signing up for an online ShopWithScrip account? Contact Katie Perez for help!

Scrip - What is it, what can it do for me?

Are you traveling this summer and need gas cards? We have them! Are you going to Disneyland and need Disney $? We have it! Are you working on your house this summer? We have Home Depot cards! Taking the family out to dinner? Come grab gift cards for dinner! Buying uniforms or back to school clothes? We have those gift cards too!

What is Scrip?

Scrip is a fancy name for gift cards.  The school purchases the gift cards at a reduced rate, then sells those same cards at face value.  The “rebate” (or difference between the purchase price and selling price) is how the program makes a profit … and how you earn a tuition discount.  Have you ever seen those racks of gift cards available for purchase in a store? Our scrip gift card program is exactly the same and we sell those same gift cards.

Veritas Christian Academy utilizes scrip to generate additional revenue to support the school budget.  In addition to supporting the budget our school families receive 50% of their overall rebates towards a tuition credit!  You already spend money on gas, groceries and incidentals - purchase the gift card from the school, spend, and earn credit towards tuition. We encourage you to take part in scrip gift card purchasing - you really have nothing to lose by making the effort!

Getting Started With Scrip Gift Cards

  1. For scrip that you need NOW, stop by the school lobby and purchase physical cards out of the 'Scrip to Go Box'.

  2. For scrip that VCA doesn't stock, manually complete an order form (located in the lobby). Orders are placed weekly. Your order will be delivered to the school and we will hold it in the Scrip Box for your pickup.

  3. To view all of the scrip merchants online and shop at your leisure, you can place an order at Please contact the scrip coordinator, Katie Perez, for the enrollment code when you create your online account. Your online order will be delivered to the school and we will hold it in the Scrip Box for your pickup.

  4. ScripNow are online gift cards that are available on To purchase ScripNow, you can connect a bank account to the secure “PrestoPay” option to access gift cards right away while you’re out shopping.

**Scrip orders are not returnable, changeable or cancellable once submitted.

Other Methods of Earning Rebates

In addition to buying Scrip gift cards, there are additional methods of earning scrip rebates.  Please note the earnings from the methods listed below are normally not as profitable as purchasing scrip gift cards.

  • eScrip

eScrip is a partnership between online merchants and our school. When you shop at participating merchants, they donate a percentage of your purchase back to the school and the proceeds will go towards your scrip earnings. Register all phone numbers used for grocery loyalty programs, your credit and debit cards, at (our school group number is 155347479). Once registered, use your debit/credit card at participating local merchants as normal.

eScrip also gives back through ONLINE Shopping Mall purchases.  Once you have registered your credit cards, use eScrip website to launch into the Online Shopping Mall.  There are over 1000+ stores such as Amazon, Nordstrom, Apple, Expedia, Sephora.  Please note eScrip can take up to 3 months to post contributions.

  • Lucky Shares

Lucky S.H.A.R.E.S. contributes 3% of qualifying purchases.  Simply register online at You must also have your phone number registered on eScrip (instructions above) as this is how Lucky’s reports earned rebates.

Presentation: PowerPoint presentation including interactive questions, a virtual art gallery and information about the artist’s life and history.

Student Workshop: Using a self-guided packet, the students reinforce what they have learned by practicing the techniques that are most attributed to the artist.

Student Art Projects: The unit culminates in a project where each student demonstrates their newfound knowledge of the artist’s medium, subject matter and/or style to create their very own art piece.

The program is designed in multiple levels so students of all ages can learn and grow in their creativity and artistry.

Please check out the Meet the Masters website if you have any additional questions.

Mosquito facts

Hello families,

Have you noticed a rise in biting mosquitoes recently? The Napa Valley Register printed a story about what's going on; read it here.

Here are a few mosquito facts for our students, parents and members of the community who use school playing fields.

  1. The salt marsh mosquito does NOT carry West Nile virus or any other disease. The bite can be painful and leave a welt.
  2. Salt marsh mosquitoes breed in tidal marsh water, not fresh water, so standing water on campus or irrigated school fields are not a source of the mosquitoes.
  3. This is an unusual event, and the Mosquito Abatement District expects the hatch to be over soon.

Neither mowing the grass nor reducing irrigation will reduce the number of mosquitoes, so we will not take those steps. State law will not allow us to use insecticides on the school campus. So our best option is to wait until the adult mosquito activity is over.

In the meantime, long pants and long sleeves can help protect your child from mosquito bites. School staff will monitor the situation at each school and will take proper steps to reduce your child’s exposure during the school day, which may include keeping children off of grassy areas or fields, etc.

First Christian School Re-Named as Veritas Christian Academy

Top Napa Private School Celebrates 20th Year with New Name and New Focus

VCA Final White With Lion.png

7/10/18 Napa, CA: Veritas Christian Academy (VCA), a leading preschool – 8th grade private education institution in the Napa Valley has announced a new name and curriculum focus, as the school enters its 20th year. Founded in 1998, as First Christian School of Napa, the institution has long been regarded as a place for positive and academically excellent learning experiences, delivered in a safe, family-focused environment. VCA students have excelled in preparation for higher education and later in life.

The name change comes as part of the school’s strategic vision to expand its reach to the greater Napa Valley. Rather than being linked to a single church, the school will now work to foster a support network of multiple churches, community organizations, families and individuals.  Earlier this year, the school announced a multi-campus approach, which will commence in September 2018. Preschool through 5th grade programs will remain on the First Christian Church campus, now referred to as the VCA South Campus.  Middle School, 6th-8th grade, will move to the Grace Church campus, now referred to as the VCA North Campus.

Coinciding with the new name and multi-campus strategy, the school will take on a STEAM-based curriculum focus: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. STEAM is an integrated approach to learning, which requires a purposeful connection between standards, assessments, lesson design and implementation. The goal of the STEAM program is to deliver a more active and well-rounded academic experience.

“2018 is a banner year for our school on many fronts,” said VCA Head of School, Dawnelle Ellis. “We celebrate our 20th year with a new name and re-affirmed focus on delivering an outstanding education to our students. The heart of our new name, Veritas, is Latin for truth. Teaching truth, God’s truth, is the core of our mission. We couldn’t be more thrilled to begin this new era for our school and the entire Napa Valley community.”

About Veritas Christian Academy:

Veritas Christian Academy (VCA) was originally founded as First Christian School in 1998, with the mission of partnering with parents to provide their children with a challenging academic education instilled with Christian values. Since that time, the school has grown to include award-winning preschool, elementary and middle school programs. VCA students overwhelmingly enjoy their school experience, and graduate with lives of purpose, service and leadership. VCA features academically and emotionally well-rounded STEAM curriculum, effective student-teacher ratios, outstanding test scores, dual-accreditation and a distinctive family atmosphere. To learn more, call 707-253-7226.

Notice of Nondiscriminatory Policy as to Students:

Veritas Christian Academy is a business of Napa Valley Christian Education Group (NVCEG), a 501(c)(3) organization. NVCEG schools admit students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It doesn’t discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school administered programs.

New School Name - A new era for our school!

independence day.jpg

Happy Independence Day! This day not only marks the celebration of our country’s independence, it also introduces an exciting new era for our school. First Christian School has operated as a ministry of First Christian Church of Napa since our inception in August 1998. The church has acted as our “parent” for the past 19 years, and now we are ready to graduate into an independent institution, as God calls us into our future.

Therefore, we begin our 20th year as a multi-campus independent Christian school. Preschool through 5th grade programs will remain on the First Christian Church campus, now referred to as the South Campus. Middle School, 6th-8th grade, will move to the Grace Church campus, now referred to as the North Campus.

With this new era comes a new name. The reason for the name change is to create a community school system that is supported by a network of Christian churches, verses just one church. I’m thrilled to announce that new school name will be Veritas Christian Academy. Veritas is Latin for truth. Teaching truth, God’s truth, is the core of our school mission. We have also created a new 501(c)(3) corporation to manage all business operations related to the school. This corporation has been named Napa Valley Christian Education Group. The corporate name allows us to grow as God leads us into a bright educational future.
