The amazing students of First Christian School have taken the initiative to start a "BE the Change" drive for victims of the devastating Valley Fire in Lake County. We will be collecting change in a large container at the Front Desk for a couple of weeks and then sending the funds to Samaritan's Purse. Samaritan's Purse has mobilized a long-term rebuilding project which includes helping those who have lost their homes to clean up and sift through the wreckage for anything that can be salvaged.
In the weeks that follow they will be helping to rebuild lost homes and providing a listening ear and hand of support to those who have been affected by this tragedy. They are also accepting volunteers to help with clean-up and rebuilding. You can find out more information about their relief efforts on their website. We have had a few church members directly affected and it would be a wonderful show of support to have our church and school families reach out to those in need!
Samaritan's Purse has a policy of donating "no less" than 90% of their donations directly to the need requested. The remainder is used for administration and advertising. In the case of the Valley Fire, the representative we spoke with says there are very few administrative costs so the percentage will be higher than 90.
We are so proud of our students and their servant hearts and generous attitudes! We have already raised several hundred dollars! Keep the change coming in!
